The Atlanta Braves fell to the San Diego Padres 7-3 in 11 innings on Sunday in the finale of a three-game set at Truist Park; that allowed the Padres to take the weekend series by 2-1, as well as the season series by 4-3.
San Diego notched four runs in the top of the 11th inning to surge ahead of the home team.
Highlights for Atlanta included a two-run homer by Dansby Swanson during the bottom of the fourth. He also scored on a Padres fielding error during the second.
Thus ended an eight-game homestand that resulted in an even four wins and four losses for the Braves, who are now in third place of the National League East with a record of 16-19 on the ’22 season. They will open up a six-game road trip this evening with the first of three outings in Milwaukee against the NL Central-leading Brewers. The first pitch is slated for 7:40 pm. In a minor league update, the Rome Braves concluded a six-game homestand with a loss to the Winston-Salem Dash by a final score of 5-1 on Sunday. The Braves lost the game, but won the series 5-1. They are off today and will get back into action on Tuesday night with the first of six games up in Aberdeen, Maryland versus the Iron Birds. That series will be followed by six games in New York versus the Hudson Valley Renegades.
