MAY 24TH PRIMARY ELECTION LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY, KEMP BRINGS CAMPAIGN FOR RE-ELECTION TO ROME

Less than a week remains until the May 24th primary election in Georgia, for which just a few days remain of early voting.

A number of local, state, and federal races are on the ballots of Floyd County voters, in addition to a proposed penny sales tax for education.

Early voting will be offered from 8 am until 5 pm daily through Friday at the

the new Elections Office at 18 East 12th Street and at the Anthony Recreation Center at 2901 Garden Lakes Boulevard.

Early voters have been turning out in record numbers across the state for this election. According to a release issued by the Office of Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on Tuesday –

Through Monday, May 16th, more than 426,000 people have early voted in Georgia—a 200 % increase from the same point in the early voting period in the 2018 primary election and a 150 % increase in the same point in the early voting period in the 2020 primary election. Georgia has had record early voting turnout since the first day of early voting this year, surging to nearly three times the number on the first day of primary voting in 2018 and double that of 2020, and has continued on that path since.

Local polls will be open on Election Day, next Tuesday, May 24th from 7 am until 7 pm.

Governor Brian Kemp brought his re-election campaign to downtown Rome on Tuesday. His statewide bus tour made a stop at the Town Green, for which supporters and local leaders were on hand.
