REMINDER: SECOND ANNUAL PUBLIC SAFETY EXPO IS SET FOR THIS SATURDAY

Here’s a reminder that the local Public Safety Expo is planned for Saturday at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds in Rome.

Shasta Farrer, a Life and Fire Safety Educator with the Rome-Floyd County Fire Department, enthuses that she looks forward to the second annual event, which appeals to all ages.

According to a release from the Floyd County Police Department –

Our annual Public Safety Expo is scheduled for Saturday at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This is the second year for the event.

We want to invite everyone from the public to come out to see how their tax money is being invested and what public safety in Rome and Floyd County has to offer in regard to services to our community. It’s a great show and tell experience that allows our community to visit and see our emergency equipment.

The public works exhibition was very popular last year and will return for 2022. Floyd County Public Works will have a motor grader on site with a small excavator for participants to get behind the gears and take it for a spin.

The Floyd County Police Department HEAT unit will also have an activity in which drivers of a golf cart will wear “beer goggles” that simulate a DUI driver on a cone course.

All of our local agencies will be participating for a full offering of services. Also in attendance will be EMS services from Advent Health, Atrium Health and Erlanger Life Force helicopter.

Other exhibits include:

PAWS-Animal Control

Floyd County Police

Floyd County Prison

Floyd County Sheriff

Ga Community Supervision

Ga Forestry

Ga DNR
