ATLANTA BRAVES FALL IN EXTRAS AT MILWAUKEE TO BREWERS, ROME BRAVES EVEN SERIES IN ABERDEEN, MD VS. IRONBIRDS

The Atlanta Braves dropped the finale of a three-game set in Milwaukee, WI to the Brewers by 7-6 in 11 innings on Wednesday afternoon; that allowed the Brewers to take the series 2-1.

The Braves took an early lead on a three-run homer from Austin Riley in the top of the third inning. That was followed by a solo shot by Marcell Ozuna, which marked the first time in the 2022 season that Atlanta has notched back-to-back home runs.

However, Milwaukee came charging back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth and another in the sixth. An RBI triple by Kolton Wong off Kenley Jansen in the bottom of the ninth made it 4-4 and sent the ballgame into extra innings. The score was tied at 5-5 at the end of 10. Atlanta took a 6-5 lead in the top of the 11th on an RBI single by Travis d’Arnaud. And then Milwaukee secured a walk-off win with a two-run homer by Keston Hiura in his return to the majors off of Jesse Chavez during the bottom of the inning.

The Braves are off tonight and will open a three-game National League East series in Miami, FL against the Marlins on Friday night. First pitch is set for 6:40 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 5:25 pm.

Atlanta is currently in fourth place of the division with a record of 17-21, and Miami is in third place at 17-20.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds by 2-1 on Wednesday evening in Aberdeen, MD, which evened the six-game series between the teams at a game each. Game three is scheduled for tonight at 7:05 pm.
