ATLANTA BRAVES DROP FINALE BUT TAKE SERIES AT MIAMI, ROME BRAVES TAKE SERIES IN ABERDEEN, MD VS. IRONBIRDS

The Atlanta Braves fell to the Miami Marlins 4-3 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game National League East series at loanDepot Park down in Miami, Florida. The Braves lost the game, but won the series 2-1.

Sandy Alcantara pitched a complete game, the fourth of his career and first of this season, en route to the win for Miami. He gave up three unearned runs and six hits, walked a pair, and struck out seven.

Atlanta starter Ian Anderson took the loss after giving up four runs and seven hits, walking two, and striking out six over six innings of work.

The Braves will be back on their home field at Truist Park to open up a seven game homestand with the first of four NL East games versus the Philadelphia Phillies this evening. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.

Atlanta and Philadelphia are now tied for second place in the division as each team has a record of 19-22.

The Braves’ series versus the Phillies will be followed by three games versus the Marlins in Atlanta over the weekend.

And in a minor league update, the Rome Braves picked up a 9-4 victory over the Aberdeen Ironbirds on Sunday in the finale of a six-game set at Aberdeen, Maryland. The Braves took the series 4-2. They are off today and will begin a six-game set in Wappingers Falls, NY versus the Hudson Valley Renegades on Tuesday night; first pitch is slated for 6:05 pm.
