ATLANTA BRAVES GRAB WALK-OFF WIN OVER PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES, ROME BRAVES OPEN SERIES IN NY WITH A WIN OVER HUDSON VALLEY RENEGADES

The Atlanta Braves grabbed a walk-off win over the Philadelphia Phillies by 6-5 on Tuesday night in the second meeting of a four-game set at Truist Park; that series among rivals in the National League East is now tied at 1-1.

The Phillies scored the first run of the evening on a sac fly by JT Realmuto in the top of the second. The Braves took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of that inning with RBI singles by Dansby Swanson and Ronald Acuna Jr. Bryce Harper hit a run-scoring double for Philadelphia which tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the sixth. Atlanta again surged ahead in the bottom of that inning with a solo home run from Matt Olson and a sac fly from Ronald Acuna Jr. Harper struck again with an RBI single in the seventh and a two-run homer in the ninth. But the Braves struck back on a sacrifice fly by Acuna and a walk-off single from William Contreras in the bottom of the ninth.

Kenley Jansen held on to secure the win for Atlanta, while Nick Nelson took the loss for Philadelphia.

The Braves and the Phillies are again tied up at second place in the National League East; each team has a record of 20-23. They will meet this evening at 7:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.

And in a minor league update, the Rome Braves picked up a 3-1 victory over the Hudson Valley Renegades on Tuesday evening in game one of a six-game set up in New York. Game two is scheduled for today at 11:05 am.
