GEORGIA’S 2022 PRIMARY ELECTION IS ON THE BOOKS!

Georgia’s 2022 primary election is on the books. Updated results are posted on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ga.gov.

In races of local interest –

Marjorie Greene, incumbent, nabbed the Republican party’s nomination to keep her 14th Congressional District post. She will go on to face opposition from Marcus Flowers, Democrat, in November. Both emerged victorious in Tuesday’s election across the district and in Floyd County.

In the race for the 13th District post in the Georgia House of Representatives, incumbent Katie Dempsey won her bid for re-election. Eddie Lumsden was re-elected to his District 12 seat. Neither of the Republicans face Democratic opposition in the fall.

Larry Maxey has won another term as Floyd County Commissioner.

A penny sales tax for education (ELOST) was also passed Tuesday by Rome and Floyd County voters.

In races of statewide significance –

Brian Kemp will continue on with his campaign for re-election as Governor of Georgia. The Republican will proceed to face Stacey Abrams, Democrat, this November.

Herschel Walker won the Republican party’s nomination for US Senate. He will take on incumbent Raphael Warnock, Democrat, in the general election.
