SEARCH IS ON FOR A NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AT CHIEFTAINS MUSEUM – MAJOR RIDGE HOME AS CURRENT ED ANNOUNCES UPCOMING DEPARTURE FOR NEW JOB AT DARLINGTON

The search is now on for a new Executive Director of the Chieftains Museum – Major Ridge Home as the current leader Heather Shores recently announced that she is leaving that post for a full-time position at Darlington School. Her last day at the museum is June 24th.

Shores says that she has enjoyed the past nine years as Executive Director of Chieftains Museum – Major Ridge Home, a National Historic Landmark that is one of a few private entities certified by the National Park Service as a site on the Trail of Tears. However, she looks forward to new beginnings over at Darlington.

Applications are now being accepted for the post of museum director. Shores hopes that her successor will take the museum to the next level of success.

The museum will team with the Rome Area History Center to present the first event in a Summer Author Series on Thursday, June 16th, which will feature archaeologist and author Pat Garrow. Get more information on the museum’s website at www.chieftainsmuseum.org or on Facebook.
