ROME BRAVES’ SERIES VS. BOWLING GREEN HOT RODS EVEN AT 1-1 WITH HOT RODS WIN IN GAME TWO

Final score – Bowling Green 4, Rome 1

(Media release from the Rome Braves):

The Rome Braves were back in action on Wednesday night for game two between them and the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Rome’s front man Dylan Dodd got the starting nod for the Braves, looking to notch his fifth win of the 2022 campaign. As we rapidly approach the midway point of the 2022 season, this early June series between Rome and Bowling Green looms ever large in the minds of both teams. Rome entered the night’s contest just a half game back of the Hot Rods, and looked to dethrone Bowling Green with a win tonight.

Conor Dryer would get the ball for Bowling Green, going four full innings with three hits and four strikeouts. Dryer would lower his season earned run average to 0.93. Dylan Dodd would go a full two innings longer than Dyer, giving up two runs over six innings with ten strikeouts. The two runs Dodd surrendered in the top of the first would be enough for the Hot Rods, and enough to hand Dodd his fourth loss of the year.

Bowling Green would get the scoring started in the top of the first with Osleivis Basabe reaching on a fielder’s choice, and Kyle Manzardo would score on a Vaughn Grissom throwing error. The Hot Rods would tack on one more in the opening frame with a Heriberto Hernandez single that would score Diego Infante to give the Hot Rods an early two run to none lead.

Rome would cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the sixth with Justyn-Henry Malloy’s sixth homer of the season, however in the top of the ninth Ronny Simon would single to right field and drive in two more to make give Bowling Green a four to one lead. The Braves would go down in order in the bottom the ninth, giving the Hot Rods the win by a final of four runs to one. Dylan Dodd would be tagged with his fourth loss of the season, and Joe Lasorsa would be credited with the win after going three full innings with no hits and four strikeouts.

Rome and Bowling Green will pick back up tonight at 7 pm with game three of the series. Andrew Hoffmann will get the starting nod for Rome as they look to take an early lead in this pivotal series.
