ATLANTA BRAVES EXTEND LATEST WINNING STREAK TO SEVEN STRAIGHT GAMES WITH VICTORY OVER OAKLAND A’S AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves extended their latest winning streak to seven consecutive games with a 13-2 victory over the Oakland A’s on Wednesday evening in the finale of a two-game interleague set at Truist Park; that allowed the Braves to pick up their second series sweep in a row.

Oakland struck first with a couple of runs during the top of the fourth. Atlanta answered with a sac fly by Ozzie Albies that brought Dansby Swanson home to make it 2-1 in the bottom of that inning. The home team took a 3-2 lead in the fifth with a two-run triple from Michael Harris II. Austin Riley extended the lead to 5-2 with a two-run homer in that inning.

William Contreras had a solo home run in the sixth. The Braves scored seven runs in the seventh, to include RBI singles from Austin Riley and Matt Olson, a three-run homer by Ozzie Albies, and a two-run shot by Adam Duvall.

While the Braves have now won seven straight, the A’s extended their current losing streak to eight in a row.

Ian Anderson picked up the win for Atlanta after giving up just two runs and six hits, walking two, and striking out five in six innings. Jared Koenig took the loss for Oakland in his major league debut.

The Braves rose to three games above .500 with a record of 30-27. They will continue their current six-game homestand tonight with the opener of a four-game National League set against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Truist Park. First pitch is slated for 7:20 pm.
