ATLANTA BRAVES EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO EIGHT STRAIGHT, CONTINUE SERIES VERSUS PITTSBURGH PIRATES OVER THE WEEKEND

The Atlanta Braves extended their current winning streak to eight consecutive games with a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday night in the opener of a four game National League set at Truist Park.

Max Fried was the winning pitcher for Atlanta after surrendering just one run and eight hits, walking none, and striking out eight over six innings of work. Kenley Janson was credited with the save. JT Brubaker was charged with the loss for Pittsburgh.

The Braves jumped on the board with an RBI single by Adam Duvall during the bottom of the second. They added to that lead in the third inning with an RBI single by Dansby Swanson and an RBI double by Travis d’Arnaud.

The Pirates’ lone run of the evening was a solo home run by Jack Suwinski in the top of the fourth.

The Braves have risen to four games above .500 with a record of 31 wins and 27 losses. They remain in second place of the National League East, but now six and a half games back from the division-leading New York Mets. They’ll face the Pirates again tonight at 7:20 pm.
