ATLANTA BRAVES EXTEND CURRENT WINNING STREAK TO AN MLB-BEST 12 STRAIGHT GAMES, ROME BRAVES ON THE ROAD AGAIN

The Atlanta Braves’ current winning streak increased to 12 straight games on Monday night with a 9-5 victory over the Washington Nationals in the opener of a three-game National League East set in Washington DC.

Atlanta racked up a total of five home runs, including a solo shot from Travis d’Arnaud in the top of the second inning and back-to-back jacks from Marcell Ozuna and Adam Duvall during the third.

Dansby Swanson had a two-run shot in the sixth, and Michael Harris II added a solo home run in the eighth (the first homer of his career).

Dylan Lee picked up the win in relief for Atlanta, and Erasmo Ramirez took the loss for Washington.

Atlanta’s 12-game winning streak is the longest winning streak of this year in the Majors.

Unfortunately for the Braves, Ozzie Albies departed the game during the fifth with a fractured left foot.

The Braves improved to 35-27 for the ’22 season and remain in second place of the NL East, now five games behind the division-leading New York Mets. The Nationals remain in last place at 23-40.

Game two of the three-game division series between the Braves and the Nats is scheduled for tonight at 7:05 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 5:50 pm.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves had a scheduled off day Monday and will open up a six-game series in Asheville, NC against the Tourists this evening. First pitch is slated for 6:35 pm.
