ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN HOMESTAND WITH WALK-OFF VICTORY OVER SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

The Atlanta Braves opened a seven-game homestand with a walk-off victory over the San Francisco Giants by a final score of 2-1 on Monday night in the opener of a four-game set at Truist Park.

Atlanta took an early lead with a solo home run from Travis d’Arnaud in the bottom of the second inning.

The Giants tied it up on an RBI single by Austin Slater during the top of the eighth. But the Braves claimed the victory on a walk-off single from Orlando Arcia in the bottom of the ninth.

Atlanta’s closer Kenley Jansen was credited as the winning pitcher. Camilo Doval took the loss for San Francisco.

The Braves improved to 39-29 on the ’22 season and remain in second place of the National League East, still five and a half games behind the division-leading New York Mets. The Giants fell to 37-29 and are in third place of the NL West. Those teams will meet again tonight at 7:20 pm. Listen locally on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; air time is 6:05 pm.

Monday night marked the return to Truist Park of Joc Pederson, who is now a Giant. He was presented his 2021 World Series ring prior to the game – and, of course, wore a string of pearls.
