ATLANTA BRAVES WRAP UP HOMESTAND WITH EXTRA INNING LOSS TO LOS ANGELES DODGERS

The Atlanta Braves closed out a seven-game homestand with a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 in 11 innings on Sunday evening in the finale of a three game series at Truist Park. The Dodgers won that weekend set by 2-1, but the Braves finished their homestand with a winning record of 4-3.

The ballgame remained scoreless until the bottom of the sixth, when Marcell Ozuna had an RBI single to get Atlanta on the board. The home team added to their lead on a sac fly by Austin Riley in the seventh. LA tied the game on a two-run single by Trayce Thompson during the top of the ninth. The teams traded runs in the 10th with an RBI double by former Brave Freddie Freeman for LA and an RBI single from Matt Olson for Atlanta. LA notched a pair of runs in the top of the 11th on an RBI double from Chris Taylor and RBI single from Trea Turner. Atlanta did not produce any runs during the bottom of that inning and lost the outing, again, by a final score of 5-3.

Darren O’Day was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Craig Kimbrel, another former Brave, was credited with the win for LA. Brusdar Graterol picked up the save.

The Braves dropped to 42-32 on the season and remain in second place of the National League East, now five games behind the division-leading New York Mets (who lost to Miami on Sunday). They are off tonight and will open up a six-game road trip this Tuesday night with the first of three division games in Philadelphia versus the Phillies. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
