JULY 4TH IS A POPULAR TIME FOR CAMPING AT GEORGIA STATE PARKS AND HISTORIC SITES

Georgia’s state parks expect a host of campers over the upcoming 4th of July weekend. Kim Hatcher, Public Affairs Coordinator for Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites, attests that campsites, cabins, and yurts stay pretty full at this time of year, although it never hurts to check www.gastateparks.org for potential cancellations. And now is an ideal time to book those reservations for next year.

Several parks will offer family-friendly activities over the holiday weekend. Visit the website for more details.

As we prepare to celebrate our nation’s birthday and history, you may want to pay a visit FD Roosevelt State Park in Pine Mountain. Hatcher enthuses that it has a pool in the shape of the Liberty Bell.

Reservations are necessary for visitors who wish to stay overnight at a state park, adds Hatcher.

Camping options right here in Rome and Floyd County include Cedar Creek RV and Outdoor Center in Cave Spring. Call (706) 777-3030 to check up on availability.
