ATLANTA BRAVES USE EXTRA-INNING VICTORY TO SWEEP THE WASHINGTON NATIONALS IN NL EAST SET; FOUR MORE BRAVES HEADED TO MLB ALL-STAR GAME

The Atlanta Braves swept the Washington Nationals with a 4-3 victory in 12 innings on Sunday in the last meeting of a three-game National League East set at Truist Park.

Austin Riley led the charge with three RBIs, including a game-tying homer during the bottom of the eighth and a walk-off single to win the game in the 12th.

Berry College alum Colin McHugh was credited as the winning pitcher for Atlanta. Jordan Weems took the loss for Washington.

The Braves improved to 52-35 and are now just a game and a half behind the first place New York Mets in the NL East. Those teams will meet tonight in game one of a three-game series in Atlanta. In other news from the Atlanta Braves – Max Fried, Travis d’Arnaud, Dansby Swanson, and William Contreras have all been named to the National League roster for the 92nd annual MLB All-Star Game, slated for Tuesday, July 19th in Los Angeles. They will join Ronald Acuna Jr., who was chosen last week as a starter.
