OLSON, DUVALL HOMER IN ATLANTA BRAVES VICTORY OVER NEW YORK METS

The Atlanta Braves defeated the New York Mets 4-1 on Tuesday night in the middle outing of a three game National League East set at Truist Park, which evened the series at 1-1. That allowed the second place Braves to cut the first place Mets’ lead in the division to a game and a half.

The Mets scored the first run of the evening on an RBI triple from Francisco Lindor off Spencer Strider that scored Brandon Nimmo during the top of the fifth inning. The Braves surged ahead on a two-run homer from Matt Olson in the bottom of the sixth.

Adam Duvall provided some insurance with a two-run shot off Seth Lugo in the bottom of the seventh.

Tyler Matzek picked up the win in relief for Atlanta. AJ Minter got the save. David Peterson was charged with the loss for New York.

The Braves will finish their current 10-game homestand with the series finale versus the Mets this afternoon at 12:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 11:05 am.
