HEALTH INITIATIVE FOR MEN AND WOMEN SET TO RETURN ON AUGUST 20TH

The Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition urges locals to mark their calendars for Saturday, August 20th. That is the date of the Health Iniative for Men and Women to be hosted by the 100 Black Men of Rome and Northwest Georgia (with support from the coalition). Hours are 8 am until noon over at the Floyd County Health Department, 16 East 12th Street in Rome.

Erin Hernandez, President and CEO of the NWGARCC, attests that the event was on hiatus over the past couple of years because of coronavirus concerns, but it is back for 2022. She indicates that local healthcare providers will offer screenings. There will also be educational opportunities.

Screenings can often save lives as early detection is key to curbing the spread of cancer, adds Hernandez.

Interested parties may call (706) 509-6840 and choose option one to schedule a mammogram for the day of that event.
