The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office and Police Department are warning locals to be aware of scam artists posing as law enforcement.
According to a post on the FCSO website –
We are receiving reports that there are individuals calling people posing as members of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office. During these phone scams they try to make you believe that there is a warrant out for your arrest unless you pay a fine over the phone.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office will never call you and attempt to collect money, ever.
And watch out for folks trying to sell t-shirts via text message. The Sheriff’s Office and the FCPD have both been the target of scam artists posing as each department in an effort to offer discount codes for t-shirts from a link labeled ‘rebrand’.
