END OF SUMMER FUN ABOUNDS IN ROME AND FLOYD COUNTY

The Rome International Film Festival and the City of Rome invite the public to head to the Rome City Auditorium this Wednesday night for the last movie of their free summer movie series.

Kristi Kent, Director of Communications for the city and the Georgia’s Rome Office of Tourism, encourages local families to attend a screening of the 1985 adventure comedy ‘The Goonies’.

Doors will open at 6 pm, and the movie will start at 6:30 pm. All concession sales will benefit the film festival. (And perhaps they’ll sell some Baby Ruth candy bars….)

Kent adds that the Georgia’s Rome Farmers Market, sponsored by Georgia’s Rome Gift Shop, will soon close for the year. So stop by this Friday for fresh produce and more.

The local slate of events for this weekend includes the 9th annual Cave Spring Motorcycle Rally and Music Festival. It will take place Friday and Saturday on the Big Cedar Festival Grounds. Complete event details are posted online at www.cavespringga.com. Kent muses that the event has become an end of the summer tradition in this area. And you don’t have to ride a motorcycle to enjoy it!
