ATLANTA BRAVES NOTCH WIN IN PHILADELPHIA OVER PHILLIES – MANAGER BRIAN SNIKER’S 500TH CAREER WIN; ROME BRAVES OPEN SERIES WITH LOSS IN HICKORY, NC TO CRAWDADS

The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6-3 on Tuesday night in the the second meeting of a three-game National League East set in Philadelphia, which evened the series among division rivals at a game each. It was Atlanta manager Brian Snitker’s 500th career win in the majors.

Austin Riley got the Braves on the board with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. Michael Harris II hit a solo home run during the top of the third.

Eddie Rosario added an RBI single in the fourth. Then Matt Olson clubbed a two run homer in the fifth.

Harris also contributed an RBI double which scored Rosario in the top of the ninth inning.

The Phillies notched their first run of the evening on a solo home run by Kyle Schwarber in the bottom of the sixth inning and had a two-run homer from JT Realmuto in the ninth.

Spencer Strider was credited with the win for Atlanta after giving up just one run and three hits, walking one, and striking out six over six innings of work. Kenley Jansen picked up the save. Aaron Nola was charged with the loss for Philadelphia.

The Braves improved to 59-40 on the ’22 season and are still in second place of the NL East, still two games behind the division-leading New York Mets (who beat the New York Yankees on Tuesday night). The Phillies are in third place at 50-47.

The series finale between the Braves and the Phillies is set for this afternoon at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. First pitch is scheduled for 12:35 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 11:20 am.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves dropped the opener of a six-game series up in Hickory, NC to the Crawdads by 7-3 on Tuesday evening. Those teams will meet again tonight at 7 pm.
