ATLANTA BRAVES CRUSH PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES IN SERIES OPENER, MAKE MOVES PRIOR TO MLB TRADE DEADLINE

The Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 13-1 on Tuesday evening in the first meeting of a two-game National League East set at Truist Park. That marked the fourth consecutive victory for the Braves, who are now two and a half games behind the division-leading New York Mets (who were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday).

The game was highlighted by a six-run fifth inning which included a two-run homer by Orlando Arcia. Marcell Ozuna added a solo shot during the bottom of the seventh.

Eddie Rosario contributed a total of five RBIs towards the Braves’ victory over the Phillies

Spencer Strider got the win for Atlanta after giving up just one run and three hits, walking one, and striking out a career-high 13 through six and two-third innings. Nick Nelson was charged the loss for Philadelphia.

The series finale between the Braves and the Phillies is set for this afternoon at 12:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; air time is 11:05 am.
