ANNA K. DAVIE ELEMENTARY KICKS OFF NEW SCHOOL YEAR WITH PBIS PEP RALLY

(From the Rome City Schools):

Students stomped the bleachers and waved handmade signs in the name of school spirit as the Historic Anna K. Davie Elementary kicked off a brand new school year with their PBIS Pep Rally on Thursday, August 4.

Principal Brant Amerman and Assistant Principal Kimmie Whatley introduced themselves to students, reviewed the AKD PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports) expectations and what it means to be RCS (ready to learn, courteous and safe). Amerman challenged AKD students to display the RCS way wherever they are, whenever they can.

The pep rally added a little bit of competition and a whole lot of fun as students had the chance to “mummy wrap” their teachers in flowing white strips of toilet paper. Laughs and cheers rose into the air of the gymnasium as students raced against time; ultimately ending the competition in heavy celebration.

“My goals for the new school year are to build and foster relationships with the AKD community and partner with community stakeholders to improve the overall quality of education that students receive at AKD,” Amerman said. “It is important that we work together as a team to ensure happy, healthy, and successful students!”
