UNITED WAY OF ROME-FLOYD COUNTY EXTENDS A HELPING HAND TO TENANTS AND LANDLORD IN SEARCH OF FUNDING FROM THE GEORGIA RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

Local tenants and landlords that have encountered difficulty with the Georgia Rental Assistance Program are encouraged by the United Way of Rome and Floyd County to reach out for help. Cathy Aiken-Freeman, Community Non Profit and Volunteer Coordinator, asserts that $500 million in funding is now available at the state level for rent and utilities to those who have experienced hardship as a result of COVID-19. The program is administered through the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

The United Way of Rome and Floyd County’s assistance may be sought via phone at (706) 622-1990 or online at www.uwrome.org. The process may be completed without UW assistance at www.georgiarentalassistance.gov.

Around $70,000 has been obtained for local tenants and landlords thus far, as indicated by Aiken-Freeman.

This assistance from the local United Way is ideal for those who have limited time and/or internet access, says Aiken-Freeman, who adds that the goal is to help renters avoid being evicted amid the ongoing housing crisis.
