RESTORATION ROME SEEKS RELIABLE FOSTER AND ADOPTIVE FAMILIES

Restoration Rome, a hub for foster, adoption, and family services located at the old Southeast Elementary School at 1400 Crane Street, now seeks reliable foster and adoptive families.

Mary Margaret Mauer, co-founder of the local non-profit, attests that the number of foster families with Floyd County DFACS has dwindled in recent years, due largely to COVID-19.

Locals who are interested in serving as a foster or adoptive parent may reach out to Restoration Rome, which will provide direction to the proper training. Mauer says that her organization has been working with the faith community to address the foster care crisis.

Restoration Rome’s ultimate goals, indicates Mauer, are to re-unify families whenever possible and to keep children out of state care.
