ROME CITY COMMISSIONERS TO MEET THURSDAY TO DISCUSS PROPOSED LOST AGREEMENT WITH FLOYD COUNTY AND CAVE SPRING

Rome City Commissioners will gather Thursday to discuss a proposed LOST (or local option sales tax) agreement with Floyd County and Cave Spring.

The LOST agreement is negotiated every 10 years, indicates Craig McDaniel, member of the Rome City Commission, who hopes that an agreement may be reached without the need for arbitration.

LOST funds support government services. This is different from a SPLOST, a sales tax dedicated to a pre-approved list of projects around the community, or an ELOST, which funds education initiatives, adds McDaniel.

County and city officials reached a recommended LOST distribution proposal on Saturday, according to an announcement from Floyd County.

Thursday’s meeting of the Rome City Commission is scheduled for 10 am in the Sam King Room of City Hall (the City Auditorium).
