ATLANTA BRAVES HEAD WEST FOR SERIES VERSUS OAKLAND ATHLETICS, ROME BRAVES HEAD TO HICKORY, NC

The Atlanta Braves had a scheduled off day for Labor Day and will begin an eight game road trip out west tonight with the opener of a two-game series in Oakland, CA against the Athletics. Kyle Wright will serve as starting pitcher for Atlanta, and Cole Irvin will head to the mound for Oakland. First pitch is set for 9:40 pm Eastern. Listen locally on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 8:25 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

The Braves have won their last five straight outings. They completed a three game sweep of a National League East series versus the Miami Marlins with a 7-1 victory in the rain delayed finale on Sunday at Truist Park; that allowed Atlanta to improve to 84-51 on the ’22 season and move within a game of the division-leading New York Mets.

Tonight’s game in Oakland will be the third in a four game series between the Braves and the A’s for the 2022 season; the Braves took the first two games at Truist Park back in early June. Oakland is currently 50-85 and in last place of the American League West.

In a minor league update, the Rome Braves will begin a six-game series up in Hickory, NC against the Crawdads tonight. First pitch is scheduled for 7 pm. This will be their last series of the regular season.
