ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC SCHOOL CELEBRATES BEING DEBT-FREE!

St. Mary’s Catholic School is debt-free! A celebration and note-burning took place at the school on Wednesday.

According to the school’s Facebook page –

A huge celebration at Saint Mary’s School as generations gathered for their 77th Founders’ Day and Mortgage-Burning Celebration. They welcomed back people who made the school building a reality, as well as their team of current parents and PTO, who helped to host the guests and then treated the students to pizza and face painting. Representatives from the Archdiocese of Atlanta came to support the occasion. That was a celebration 22 years in the making!

Christa Jackson, Director of Admissions and Advancement, states that a team effort was required to pay off the debt for their current school building. Terri Borchardt, Business Manager, led that charge.

A matching grant towards the now paid-off mortgage was contributed by the Archdiocese of Atlanta in honor of the late Father James Miceli.

Jackson gives God the glory for the school’s accomplishment.

St. Mary’s Catholic School opened back on September 17th, 1945, according to their website.
