ATLANTA BRAVES WRAP UP ROAD TRIP WITH EXTRA INNING LOSS IN DC TO WASHINGTON NATIONALS; UP NEXT – A DIVISION SHOWDOWN VERSUS THE NEW YORK METS AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves wrapped up a seven game road trip on Wednesday night with a loss to the Washington Nationals 3-2 over 10 innings in the finale of a three game National League East set at Nationals Park up in Washington DC, ending the Braves’ latest winning streak at four consecutive games. Atlanta is again one game back from the division-leading New York Mets, who beat the Miami Marlins in extras on Wednesday night.

The Nationals scored the first run of the evening on a sac fly by Luke Voit in the bottom of the first inning. The Braves tied the game at 1-1 during the top of the second on a solo home run from Matt Olson, his 30th homer of the year.

An RBI single by Voit broke the tie in favor of the Nationals in the bottom of the third. The game was all tied up again when Dansby Swanson scored on a throwing error in the top of the eighth. The Nats secured the win and avoided being swept by the Braves on a walk-off single by CJ Abrams during the 10th.

Jackson Stephens was charged with the loss for Atlanta. Kyle Finnegan was credited with the win for Washington.

The Braves went 4-3 on their road trip and possess an overall record of 97-59 with six games left in the ’22 regular season.
