ATLANTA BRAVES SWEEP CRUCIAL WEEKEND SERIES VERSUS NEW YORK METS AT TRUIST PARK

The Atlanta Braves completed a three-game weekend sweep of the New York Mets with a 5-3 win in the finale on Sunday night at Truist Park. The Braves currently lead the National League East by two games over the Mets, and the magic number for Atlanta to clinch a fifth consecutive division title has fallen to one.

Dansby Swanson opened the scoring with a solo home run during the bottom of the first inning. A solo shot from Daniel Vogelbach tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the second. The Mets took a 3-1 lead during the top of the third on a solo home run by Jeff McNeil and RBI single by Vogelbach. But the Braves struck back with three runs during the bottom of that inning. Matt Olson had a bases-loaded walk which made it 3-2. Atlanta took a 4-3 lead with an RBI single from Travis d’Arnaud.

Matt Olson added some insurance with a solo home run during the bottom of the sixth inning. Both Olson and Swanson homered in all three of the Braves’ victories over the Mets this past weekend.

Dylan Lee was credited with the win in relief and Kenley Jansen got the save for Atlanta. Chris Bassitt took the loss for New York.

That marked Atlanta’s 100th win of the 2022 regular season!
