ATLANTA BRAVES CLINCH FIFTH STRAIGHT NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST TITLE!!

The Atlanta Braves are the ’22 National League East champs! They clinched their fifth consecutive division title on Tuesday night with a 2-1 victory over the Miami Marlins in the second outing of a three-game series at LoanDepot Park in Miami.

The Braves struck first with an RBI single by Ronald Acuna Jr. in the top of the second inning. The Marlins tied it up at 1-1 on a solo home run by Jesus Sanchez in the bottom of the fourth. An RBI single from William Contreras gave the Braves a 2-1 lead during the top of the fifth.

Jake Odorizzi was credited with the win for Atlanta after giving up just one run and two hits, walking one, and striking out seven through five innings of work. Kenley Jansen picked up his 41st save of the season. Braxton Garrett was charged with the loss for Miami.

The defending World Series champion Braves improved to 101-60. They’ll conclude the regular season this afternoon versus the Marlins. The first pitch is slated for 4:10 pm. Listen locally on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; airtime is 2:55 pm.

The Braves’ National League Division Series will begin next Tuesday night at Truist Park in Atlanta.
