The Rome-Floyd Planning Department invites citizens to share input to develop a new 5-year work plan for the 2040 Comprehensive Plan. Citizen input will help set a cohesive vision for the community and support efforts to build a plan that identifies the necessary infrastructure to support new development.
The work plan is intended to guide growth and development in an organized, efficient, and sustainable manner for the next 5-years. To do so, the Rome-Floyd Planning Department looks to the future to anticipate trends and issues that could impact how growth and development occur.
The Comprehensive Plan is Rome-Floyd-Cave Spring’s statement of how the community wants to grow and develop. The plan guides where and how private development should occur and how public facilities and services should be provided for to support future growth. The plan is long-range in scope, focusing on the ultimate needs of the community rather than the pressing concerns of today.

Respond Online Now
A community input survey and SWOT Analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) are currently posted online and all citizens are encouraged to respond. Visit: http://romega.us/559/2023-Comprehensive-Plan-Update. Respond by November 15, 2022.
Attend a Public Participation Event
Citizens are invited to drop-in at public participation events to share input. All events will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
November 1, 2022 – Rome Floyd ECO Center
November 17, 2022 – Thornton Center
November 10, 2022 – Gilbreath Center
November 15, 2022 – Cave Spring City Hall (Fannin Hall)
Open House Events
After community input has been received, the Rome-Floyd Planning Department will hold a series of Open House events to present the results of the community input survey as well as a draft plan. Citizens will also have the opportunity to share input on the draft plan. All events will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
January 12, 2023 – Rome Floyd ECO Center
January 16, 2023 – Thornton Center
January 17, 2023 – Gilbreath Center
January 26, 2023 – Cave Spring City Hall (Fannin Hall)
