THE 2022 ROME INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL IS SET FOR THIS THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

The 2022 Rome International Film Festival will get underway this Thursday and will continue through Sunday. Here’s an update from the festival:

We’re proud to announce our opening night film is the worldwide premiere of Her Name Was Hester, presented by Georgia Power. Directed by Berry College Professor Dr. Brian Campbell, the documentary follows Stacie Marshall as she moves back to her ancestral farm in Dirt Town Valley, Georgia and wrestles with the reality of her farm having held enslaved humans. Stacie seeks to make amends, starting with the story of a wet-nurse named Hester. Click here to read the New York Times feature about her farm.

Halloween may be over, but we’re still celebrating all things spooky with a tour of the historic Claremont House! Known as the Creel House from Netflix’s Stranger Things, this 1880s home is one of the jewels of Rome and a popular selfie spot. Recently restored back to its Victorian details with a few gorgeous modern upgrades, the Claremont House has just been listed for sale and is quickly gaining national and international media coverage. And next weekend you can get a super exclusive tour of this private residence while helping raise funds for RIFF! We’re excited to partner with our sponsors Toles, Temple and Wright Real Estate, the Rome Area Heritage Foundation, and Realtors Jeb Arp and Katie Gettis Edwards. Tours will begin on the hour, every hour from noon until 3pm on Saturday, November 12. Tickets are $100 for individuals with the option to purchase a four-pack for $250. All proceeds benefit the Rome International Film Festival, a 501c3 non-profit organization. Click here to order your tickets today!

Our Saturday night feature is the hit comedy Zack and Miri, presented by Open Bar Bartending Services! Immediately following the screening, at approximately 9:30pm, we will present our 2022 RIFF Awards Show. It’s open to the public and we hope to see you there as we recognize our amazing filmmakers!
