GEORGIA’S MIDTERM GENERAL ELECTION IS ON THE BOOKS

Georgia’s midterm general election is on the books. The results from Floyd County and across the state are updated on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ga.gov.

Governor Brian Kemp, Republican, won his bid for re-election versus Stacey Abrams, a Democrat. The race for US Senate between Democrat incumbent Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker appeared to be headed for a run-off as of press time; if needed, the run-off will take place on December 6th.

In contested races of local interest, Marjorie Taylor Greene was re-elected to US House District 14. Toni Blanchard will remain on the Rome City Schools Board of Education. A referendum concerning Sunday alcohol sales in Floyd County was also approved.

The Floyd County Board of Elections and Registration is scheduled to certify the results of Tuesday’s election on Monday, November 14th at 3 pm.
