ONE FATALITY REPORTED IN CRASH ON TURNER MCCALL BOULEVARD

Traffic was brought to a grinding halt on Turner McCall Boulevard, the power went out in East Rome, and an individual died due to a crash on Monday morning.

According to reports from the Georgia State Patrol, an SUV struck a tanker truck carrying corn syrup on Turner McCall around Cooper Drive and East 8th Street at about 10 am. The truck caught fire. A utility pole was damaged, which led to the power outages.

The driver of the SUV, who has since been identified as 70-year-old Rebecca Madden, died in the crash. The driver of the truck was not injured.
