OLIVIA CAWOOD HIRED AS NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF CHIEFTAINS MUSEUM/MAJOR RIDGE HOME

(From the Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home):

Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home Board of Directors has announced the hiring of Ms. Olivia Cawood as the museum’s new Executive Director. Museum members are invited to a Meet The Director drop-in reception this Friday, November 18th from 10:30am to 12:30pm.

The museum has just kicked off their 2023 membership campaign and anyone interested is welcome to become a museum member. Simply visit chieftainsmuseum.org.

Olivia has a B.A. in history from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, as well as a M.A. in Public History and a graduate certificate in Cultural Resource Management from West Virginia University.

As a graduate student, Olivia focused her research on Cherokee history, so she is especially excited about the opportunity to work at Chieftains Museum/Major Ridge Home.

Olivia recently stated in an interview on WLAQ that her first history-related job was at the Chief Vann House Historic Site up in nearby Chatsworth, GA. That nurtured her interest in Cherokee history, which is further fueled by this new opportunity at Chieftains.

Olivia also enjoys finding opportunities to connect the public with history in meaningful ways.

Olivia is originally from Cleveland, TN and is excited to now call Rome, GA home.
