THANKSGIVING LOVE FEAST SET FOR THURSDAY

The 34th annual Thanksgiving Love Feast will be served at the Rome Civic Center on Thursday, November 24th from 11 am until 2 pm (or until the food runs out).

Only carry-out will be provided this year; there will be no inside dining, as indicated by Reverend Terrell Shields, Chairman of the Concerned Citizens of Rome and Floyd County.

Those interested in serving as a volunteer should call (706) 291-2091 to find out when they are most needed.

Financial contributions to the Love Feast are particularly needed this year as the cost of the meal has risen substantially due to inflation, attests Shields.

To donate money, send your check payable to “Thanksgiving Love Feast” to P.O. Box 161, Rome, Georgia 30161. Donations may also be made by using the Cash app at $Lovefeast1987.

Donations of warm winter coats and jackets are also sought for distribution to those in need at the Thanksgiving Love Feast. They may be taken over to the Civic Center this evening between 5 pm to 8 pm, asserts Shields.

The event has not only provided meals to those in need over the years, it has also provided a sense of community, says Shields.

The Thanksgiving Love Feast started over three decades ago when Shields’ youngest daughter Terrica learned at her daycare that some people would not have anything to eat on Thanksgiving. His oldest daughter Cherish compelled their father to do something about it.
