The Georgia General Assembly will begin their 2023 session on Monday, January 9th at the State Capitol in Atlanta.
Representative Katie Dempsey of Rome, who serves the 13th District in the state House of Representatives, looks forward to a fresh new start with many new members and new leadership. John Burns is anticipated to be officially selected as the 74th Speaker of the House, barring any other nominations, as the successor to the late David Ralston. Jan Jones has been nominated as the House Speaker Pro-Tempore.
Representative Dempsey expects lawmakers’ work under the Gold Dome to be cut short on Monday as many of them will be headed out to California to see the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs take on TCU in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Constituents with questions and/or concerns are encouraged by Dempsey to contact her. Contact information for all Georgia lawmakers may be obtained online at www.legis.ga.gov.
