MITCHELL REFLECTS ON ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS DIRECTOR OF FLOYD COUNTY PAWS, HOPES TO CREATE SIMILAR PROGRAMS AT NEW POST IN WALKER COUNTY

Jeff Mitchell is proud of things accomplished for the good of animals during his time as the Director of Floyd County Public Animal Welfare Services (or PAWS). He recently departed that post to become Animal Services Director for Walker County.

Mitchell says that Floyd County PAWS has worked with law enforcement to crack down on animal cruelty in recent years. Efforts have also been made to educate the public on the importance of spaying/neutering pets.

Similar initiatives are anticipated in Walker County, indicates Mitchell, who expects both Walker and Floyd Counties to work together to make Northwest Georgia a safer place for animals.

Mitchell served as Director of Floyd County Public Animal Welfare Services from May 2018 to December 2022. Although he left the post, he continues to encourage Floyd County residents in search of a new pet to open their homes to animals up for adoption at PAWS.

Floyd County PAWS is located at 99 North Avenue in Rome and available via phone at (706) 236-4537.
