FLOYD COUNTY’S SOLID WASTE DIRECTOR HOPES THAT LOCALS WILL RECYCLE MORE IN 2023

Emma Wells, the Director of Solid Waste for Floyd County, hopes that locals have made the new year’s resolution to recycle more in 2023.

The Rome-Floyd Recycling Center will host the first of six recycling events for this year on Saturday. Household hazardous waste and electronics will be collected this month, as well as in May and in September. The collection of electronics only will take place in March, July, and November. Wells asserts that Floyd County residents unable to make this month’s recycling event may choose another event later in the year.

Household hazardous waste must not be discarded in a landfill, states Wells, who adds that electronics can be recycled into something new and useful.

A link to sign up for this month’s recycling event is available on the Rome-Floyd Recycling Center’s Facebook page.

The center is located at 412 Lavender Drive in Rome and may be reached by phone at (706) 291-5266.
