DEMPSEY: GEORGIANS ENJOYED RELIEF AT THE PUMP WITH SUSPENSION OF STATE’S GAS TAX, BUT TAX FUNDS ARE NEEDED TO MAINTAIN ROADS AND BRIDGES

Many Georgians are concerned about an uptick in gas prices as the state’s gas tax suspension expired last week.

State Representative Katie Dempsey of Rome, who serves the 13th District in the Georgia House of Representatives, indicates that while many in the Peach State benefited from that break, funds are needed from the gas tax to maintain roads and bridges.

Georgia’s gas price average rose by a quarter over the past week, as reported by AAA – The Auto Club Group. Sunday’s state average of $3.06 per gallon of regular unleaded is still five cents less than at this same time last year.
