Businesses and residents affected by flooding back on September 3rd and 4th, 2022 in Chattooga and Floyd Counties may receive assistance in the form of low-interest disaster loans from the US Small Business Administration. The Disaster Loan Outreach Center is open at Chattooga County EMA/E-911 in Summerville through this Thursday, January 26th.
Tim Herrington, the Director of the Floyd County Emergency Management Agency, urges the public to make an appointment to visit the center.
Flood victims may also apply for assistance online at www.DisasterLoanAssistance.sba.gov.
According to the US Small Business Administration –
SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman made the loans available in response to a letter from Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp’s authorized representative, Valarie Grooms, dated Jan. 5, requesting a disaster declaration by the SBA. Businesses and residents in the declared area can now apply for low-interest disaster loans from the SBA. The declaration covers Chattooga County and the adjacent counties of Floyd and Walker in Georgia; and Cherokee and DeKalb in Alabama.
The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is March 10, 2023. The deadline to return economic injury applications is Oct 9, 2023.
