Georgians may want to hug a tree this Friday as that will be the state’s Arbor Day, observed annually on the third Friday in February.
Keep Rome-Floyd Beautiful will team with TRED of Rome/Floyd County, the City of Rome, GA Tree Board, and other community partners to host an Arbor Day Celebration that afternoon at 1 pm at the G.E. Trail Head, located at 1389 Redmond Circle.
Hannah Bagley, KRFB Director, says that this is a great time of year to plant a tree.
Large-growth trees are being planted for this Arbor Day Celebration. Event attendees will likely never see those trees reach maturity, but their kids will, attests Bagley.
KRFB and TRED are excited to partner up for this Friday’s celebration, adds Bagley.

Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation teamed with International Paper to host an Arbor Day Celebration this past Monday at Alto Park.
Would you like to plant a tree in celebration of Georgia’s Arbor Day? Go pay a visit to Lavender Mountain Hardware and Garden in Rome, which will give away Dogwood and Redbud seedlings on Friday and Saturday. The seedlings were grown by the Georgia Forestry Commission. All the other trees in stock will be on sale.
