AMERICAN RED CROSS OF NWGA HIGHLIGHTS ITS MISSION DURING RED CROSS MONTH

The American Red Cross is raising awareness of its service to communities nationwide during the annual observance of Red Cross Month in March.

Carla Maton, Executive Director of the Northwest Georgia chapter, says that the Red Cross was established in the US over 140 years ago by Clara Barton, who was otherwise known as ‘The Angel of the Battlefield’.

Maton adds that there are Red Cross organizations all over the world. Each is tasked with helping those in need.

As indicated by their mission statement, the American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

The American Red Cross of Northwest Georgia is currently in search of new volunteers, blood donations, and financial contributions, according to Maton. For information, visit www.redcross.org.
