Investigator Chris Ridling was awarded Officer of the Year at Monday night’s Rome City Commision Meeting for his life saving efforts on Friday December 2nd, 2022. PFC Ridling responded to a possible overdose at a Rudy Street address. Upon arrival, he was greeted by a chaotic scene with multiple individuals yelling and screaming for help. PFC Ridling remained calm and immediately began rendering aid to a 21 year old male lying on his back, unconscious, gasping for breath and blue in color. With no signs of a pulse, PFC Ridling repositioned the male and connected his department issued AED. He began giving chest compressions and was able to establish a pulse as Fire Rescue and EMS arrived. For PFC Ridlings life saving efforts, compassion, and display of a true servants heart for his fellow man, PFC Ridling was selected as Rome Police Departments Officer of the Year for 2022.
