HABITAT FOR HUMANITY – COOSA VALLEY TO HOST HAMMER IT HOME 5K AND HEALTH WALK ON MAY 6TH

Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley hopes to hit another home run with fundraising efforts at their 3rd annual Hammer It Home 5K and Health Walk slated for Saturday, May 6th at the home of the Rome Braves. The 5K is set for 9 am, with the walk at 9:30 am.

Betsy Allgood, Executive Director, says that registration is available online at www.habitatcoosavalley.org at a cost of $25 for the 5K and $20 for the walk. The proceeds will help build safe, affordable homes in Floyd, Chattooga, and Polk Counties.

A discount of $5 per person is offered to groups of 10 or more who register in person (and together) at 504 East First Avenue in Rome.

All of the money raised at the event will stay in this community, according to Allgood, who adds that Habitat plans to break ground for its 60th home build on Sunday, May 14th in Polk County.

Java Joy is scheduled to be on hand before and after the race to serve coffee to runners and walkers.

Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley is also in search of volunteers to work at a concession stand at the Rome Braves’ home games in the 2023 season; a portion that stand’s proceeds will benefit Habitat. For more information, call Allgood at (706) 378-0030 or email [email protected].
