FLOYD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WIN AT 2022-23 STATE LITERARY COMPETITION

15 Floyd County high school students strongly represented their schools and district at the Georgia High School Association’s 2022-2023 A Division I and AA State Literary Championships this past Saturday. In their respective classifications, 11 of the region winners placed at the state level!

Congratulations to the teams and following students:

  • A Division I
    • 1st in Extemporaneous Speaking – Domestic: Ryan Strickland (AHS)
    • 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking – International: Emalee Collins (AHS)
    • 2nd in Girls Trio: Gracie Hutcheson, Emily Martin, Ainsley Hilton (PHS)
    • 2nd in Literary Interpretation – Solo Dramatic: Malayla Malloy (CHS)
    • 4th in Boys Solo: Zachary Wright (CHS)
    • 5th Place Overall: Armuchee High
    • 9th Place Overall: Coosa High
    • 11th Place Overall: Pepperell High
  • AA
    • 1st in Extemporaneous Speaking – International: Sara Grace Abernathy (MHS)
    • 1st in Essay- Personal: Sara Grace Abernathy (MHS)
    • 3rd in Literary Interpretation – Solo Humorous: Emileigh Ashworth (MHS)
    • 4th in Essay- Literary Analysis: Annabel Lee (MHS)
    • 4th in Literary Interpretation – Solo Dramatic: Eva Petty (MHS)
    • 4th Place Overall: Model High
