ATLANTA BRAVES OPEN 2023 REGULAR SEASON WITH VICTORY OVER WASHINGTON NATIONALS IN DC, TUNE IN FOR BRAVES BASEBALL ON WLAQ OVER THE WEEKEND

The Atlanta Braves opened up their 2023 regular season with a victory over the Washington Nationals by 7-2 on Thursday afternoon at Nationals Park in Washington DC.

Travis d’Arnaud led the charge offensively as the designated hitter with four hits in five at-bats, including a two-run double in the top of the ninth inning.

The Braves jumped on the board with three runs during the top of the second and held the lead throughout the rest of the way.

Starting pitcher Max Fried exited the game early with a strained hamstring. Lucas Luetge was credited with the win for Atlanta.

The Braves and the Nationals are off today and will resume their three-game set in DC on Saturday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; airtime is 2:50 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

The Braves will conclude this series versus the Nationals on Sunday and will then head to St. Louis for a three-game set against the Cardinals. Their 2023 home opener will take place next Thursday, April 6th at Truist Park versus the San Diego Padres.
