ATLANTA BRAVES BEGIN SERIES IN ST. LOUIS WITH WIN OVER CARDINALS

The Atlanta Braves defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 8-4 on Monday night in the opener of a three-game set at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO.

The Braves clubbed three home runs en route to the victory. Austin Riley got it all started with a solo shot in the top of the first inning.

Ozzie Albies broke a 1-1 tie in favor of Atlanta with a two-run homer during the top of the second. Ronald Acuna Jr. also contributed a three-run homer in that inning.

Matt Olson had an RBI single and Travis d’Arnaud added an RBI double in the top of the seventh.

Charlie Morton was credited as the winning pitcher for Atlanta in his season debut after giving up three runs and nine hits, walking two, and striking out one over five and one-third innings.

The Braves are now 3-1 to open the 2023 regular season. They will face the Cardinals again tonight at 7:45 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM or 96.9 FM; airtime is 6:30 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.
