ATLANTA BRAVES CONCLUDE SEASON-OPENING ROAD TRIP WITH VICTORY IN ST. LOUIS OVER CARDINALS, LISTEN TO THE BRAVES’ FIRST HOMESTAND OF THE YEAR ON WLAQ

The Atlanta Braves concluded their season-opening road trip with a 5-2 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon in the finale of a three-game set at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO. It allowed the Braves to sweep the series and end the road trip with a total of five wins and one loss.

Atlanta jumped to an early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.

Matt Olson led the charge offensively with a total of three RBIs on the day, including a solo home run in the top of the second.

Bryce Elder was credited as the winning pitcher for Atlanta after giving up just two hits, walking three, and striking out six through six scoreless innings. Jesse Chavez picked up the save.

The Braves will play their first home game of the year tonight at Truist Park versus the San Diego Padres. First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 pm. Listen on WLAQ 1410 AM/96.9 FM; airtime is 6:05 pm from the Atlanta Braves Radio Network.

Atlanta’s first homestand of the year will feature four games with the Padres through Sunday, then three games against the Cincinnati Reds next Monday through Wednesday.
